Earlier this week I finished reading Patrick Gale's new novel, "Notes From An Exhibition" about a family affected by an artistic mother's bipolar disorder. It is beautifully written and probably the best book I have read so far this year.
Yesterday I interviewed Patrick for a forthcoming article for this column. But as a taster he revealed what he is reading at the moment.
" I have just reads three books.
A wonderful collection of stories by a Chinese Canadian called
Madeleine Thien "Simple Recipes". The Gift of Rain, a gripping account of
the Japanese invasion of Malaya by Tan Twan Eng and a quirky account of a
gay man's search for the One True Love - "Fifty Ways to Say Goodbye" by Nick
Alexander."
