If anyone is enjoying He Kills Coppers on ITV1 at the moment, they might enjoy The Long Firm, the debut novel from He Kills... author Jake Arnott.
Set also in 1960s gangland London, it's about a gay West End gangster and the lives he touches, including one woman who seems to be based on a young Barbara Windsor.
It pulls no punches as regards sex and violence, so please be forewarned.
It's a few years since I read it, but I absolutely loved it.
Strangely enough, I couldn't get in to He Kills Coppers, despite several attempts, but I'm now in the mood to give it one last shot.
